THE DIRTYBLUEJEANS TOOLKIT

Small tools.
Serious purpose.

Focused utilities for real audio work. Our first tool is Watchdog. More tools will join the same family as the toolkit grows.

AUDIO FAULT CAPTURE · iPHONE + iPAD

Catch the fault.
Keep the context.

The sound cuts out. A click appears. The hum comes back. Watchdog listens for audio changes and saves the moments around them, so you have something useful to investigate.

BUILT FOR YOUR WORKDAY

When “it happened again”
is all you have to go on.

Turn an intermittent complaint into a starting point.

Monitor a troublesome system during representative playback. Review a captured event before your next visit or component swap.

FROM SYMPTOM TO SOMETHING USEFUL

Set up. Listen.
Go straight to the moment.

  1. 01

    Choose your setup

Name the session and monitoring point. Choose a content preset, check the input route, and set a suitable level.

  2. 02

    Let Watchdog listen

On-device analysis watches for changes. An audio buffer preserves context around detected events; you can also mark a moment yourself.

  3. 03

    Review the evidence

Open the incident timeline, listen to the before/event/after audio, and add observations to guide your next troubleshooting step.

THE MOMENT, WITH CONTEXT

Hear what happened.
And what happened around it.

A short fault clip is more useful when you can hear the lead-in and recovery. Watchdog keeps the event in context so you can judge the audible symptom for yourself.

A CLOSER LISTEN

Different faults.
One focused workflow.

Detector options adapt to your content and capture pathway. Results describe the observed signal; interpretation depends on the source and test conditions.

01

Dropouts & silence

Find interruptions, level dips, and unexpected low signal.

02

Clipping & distortion

Inspect overload in a direct signal and distortion under suitable test conditions.

03

Hum & noise

Watch for mains-related hum, noise bursts, and a rising noise floor.

04

Clicks & pops

Capture brief transients that are easy to miss in a long session.

05

Level & tonal changes

Spot sudden level shifts, band energy loss, and changes in frequency balance.

06

Sustained & pilot tones

Monitor sustained tones and reference-tone loss with the appropriate settings.

WATCHDOG, WITH ROOM TO GROW

More depth.
The same Watchdog.

Pro options extend the tool for more demanding professional work. Reporting belongs to Pro. Advanced capabilities below are planned; final availability and packaging will be confirmed at release.

Reports & exports

PDF reports, CSV exports, and session comparisons for documenting investigations.

Planned for Pro

Multi-channel monitoring

Independent channels and cross-channel fault correlation.

Planned for Pro

Phase & speaker polarity

Stereo correlation, phase reversal, and speaker polarity checks.

Planned for Pro

Room & clip analysis

Echo/reverb checks and deeper clip metrics such as true peak, crest factor, and spectral detail.

BUILT FOR FIELD WORK

Your ears.
A better record.

Audio analysis runs on the device. Saved event clips remain local unless you choose to share them. Acoustic capture documents what reaches the microphone; it does not identify a failed component on its own.

  • Use representative programme audio and check the selected input.
  • For longer sessions, connect power and check for monitoring interruptions.
  • Direct electrical capture needs a suitable interface and safe signal levels.

BEFORE YOU PRESS START

A few useful answers.

Who is Watchdog for?

AV service technicians, integrators, workplace and education AV teams, venue technicians, and people investigating audio-system problems.

Does it diagnose the faulty component?

Watchdog captures and classifies observed audio symptoms. A dropout or hum can have several causes; a technician still needs to interpret the evidence and test the signal chain.

Can I use a microphone or a direct input?

The app provides acoustic and direct-signal pathways. Built-in microphone capture observes the room. Direct capture requires an appropriate supported audio interface; compatibility depends on the device and route.

What belongs to Pro?

Reporting and professional exports are Pro options. Multi-channel monitoring, phase/correlation, speaker polarity, room analysis, and deeper forensics are on the Pro roadmap. Final features and pricing will be announced at release.

When can I download it?

The App Store destination has not been added yet. This site is a product preview; store availability, supported OS versions, final tiers, and pricing will be confirmed with the listing.

Which languages are available?

This website is available in English, German, Spanish, French, Japanese, and Brazilian Portuguese. App language availability will be confirmed in the App Store listing. Screenshots currently show the English app.
